ADKX is one of the premier cultural institutions in upstate New York, and is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM).  
Description

The main purpose of the position is to prepare food that meets high quality standards, and serve it to the Adirondack Experience’s visitors in a friendly and courteous manner. Light cleaning is also required. A Cafe Assistant is a welcoming host that represents the values and goals of the museum at all times. The position requires continual public contact. Weekend work is required.

Rate of Pay: $15.50/hr.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Food Preparation

A1. Prepare all food (sandwiches, salads, specials, sides, etc.) for the day as requested.

A2. Maintain beverage stations.

A3. Stock chips, coolers, condiment table, cups, and lids.

A4. Prepare serving stations each morning.

A5. Run kitchen equipment as requested.

A6. Adhere to Department of Health guidelines as instructed by Café Manager.

B. Serving Visitors

B1. Serve made-to-order sandwiches and hot foods (soups, chili, hotdogs, sausage, entrees, etc.) to visitors.

B2. Run the register with a courteous and pleasant manner.

B3. Greet visitors in a pleasant, welcoming manner. Provide directions to visitors for services such as restrooms, meals, snacks, telephones, first aid, membership information, and shopping opportunities in a knowledgeable and accurate manner.

B4. Have knowledge and understanding of the Adirondack Experience’s Emergency Procedures. Guidelines will be provided.

C. Light Cleaning

C1. Maintain seating areas (wipe tables down, push chairs in, collect trays, etc.) throughout day and clean at end of each day. Sweep daily. Mop floors and wash windows as needed.

C2. Maintain a clean serving line throughout day and clean at the end of each day.

C3. At the end of each day, store food as per Department of Health guidelines.

C4. Using the Café dishwasher, wash dishes, trays, utensils, etc. as needed. Empty as needed throughout the day.

C5. Monitor trash bins and empty as needed.

C6. Clean equipment as requested.

C7. Check in and put away deliveries as required.

 
Position Requirements
  1. Friendly, positive attitude required.
  2. Excellent customer service skills are required.
  3. Experience working in a fast-paced food service environment/establishment preferred, but not required.
  4. Must be able to handle money, make correct change, and operate a credit card machine.
  5. Experience operating a POS operating system preferred.
  6. Must be able to multi-task, problem solve and work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
